Research
An important role of NCIT is to sponsor research that enhances the intermodal passenger and freight transportation system for the 21st Century.  During its first year, NCIT instituted a systematic process for engaging the academic community, transportation industry experts, and government transportation officials to evaluate and review the merits of proposals requesting funding from NCIT (see Research Advisory Committee).  Therefore, all NCIT funded research is peer reviewed.  Furthermore, the research selection process encourages university faculty from all disciplines to come together to tackle critical research issues facing the state and the nation.
